Congratulations to Vincent Li! The Pitt Award, which launched in 2025, celebrates graduating PPLS students who have demonstrated a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) through a sustained contribution to EDI initiatives, policies, and activities throughout their time at university. The award is named after David Pitt, who dedicated his life to medicine, politics, and fighting against racism and discrimination. 2026 Winner – Vincent LiVincent Li was recognised for his work in supporting international and minority students, with a particular focus on belonging and accessibility. In his role as Psychology Programme Representative, Vincent used his position to raise and resolve concerns from students who felt overlooked and encouraged wider community participation. He was also was an active member of the Chinese Psychology Students Association, where he helped make psychology research more accessible.Outside of PPLS, Vincent was a Student Advisor and Co-Manager on a curriculum transformation project at the Open Learning Centre. There, he helped embed a new course structure that gave incoming international students more say over their learning. The results of this work were presented at a national conference. When asked how he felt about winning, Vincent said, “This award really belongs to the students who trusted me with their concerns, and to the staff who were willing to listen and act on them… Over the years I saw that when student feedback leads to real change in support, teaching, or the curriculum, students gradually take a more active part in their own education. I'm grateful to have been part of that, and to have learned so much from it.” The committee was impressed by Vincent’s contributions to EDI within the school and across the university. We look forward to seeing what he does next.
