The School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences (PPLS) welcomes the opportunity to extend opportunities to develop partnerships and opportunities with colleagues external to the University of Edinburgh. Visiting academics can conduct a range of activities. This might include collaborating with members of staff on research projects, teaching observation, establishing academic networks with our staff and exploring opportunities for future projects. The Visiting Academic will carry out research for their own purposes whilst away from their own institution. If you are interested in visiting the school as a visiting academic, please read through the 'how to apply' section below.FeesThe standard fees are charged as below, which are used as a contribution to cover the administrative overheads of the visit. There is the possibility for visitors to request a fee waiver in some instances, for example, if they are from the Least Developed Countries, Other Low Income Countries and Lower Middle Income Countries on the DAC list of ODA recipients (see below) or if they contribute significantly to the school and/or have formal links. If this is the case then the academic sponsor should make a case to the head of subject area, who assesses the case and decides whether to share the request with the head of school for approval.DAC List of ODA recipients1-3 months £5004-6 months £10007-9 months £150010-12 months £2000Facilities and benefitsAs an academic visitor within the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences, you can expect that normally we will provide you with the following:Access to limited hot desking space.
