Subject specific databases

  • PsycINFO - Produced by the American Psychological Association with citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters and technical reports, as well as citations to dissertations. Currently uses Ovid interface.

  • MEDLINE - United States National Library of Medicine database covering worldwide medical literature. MEDLINE is a good medical database covering psychiatry or clinical psychology subjects.

  • PubMed -  a free service from the National Library of Medicine (U.S) with citations for biomedical articles going back to the 1950s. These citations are from MEDLINE and additional life sciences journals. Includes links to many sites providing full-text.

  • Philosopher's Index - Contains bibliographic information and article abstracts in philosophy and related disciplines from over 1600 journals published worldwide.

  • Ethnologue - Profiles approximately 7,000 living languages with number of speakers, location, dialects, usage statistics, linguistic affiliations and autonyms.
