The reading group is part of the interdisciplinary Ancient Philosophy Research Group, which consists of researchers from philosophy and classics. Every semester we are closely reading an ancient philosophical text in the original language. The authors we read include Presocratics, Plato, Aristotle, Hellenistic philosophers and late ancient authors like Plotinus. The group meets every week during the semester, and meetings are scheduled to last for two hours. Open to postgraduates and staff at any institution or discipline, organised to discuss interesting and challenging texts in various areas of the phenomenological literature. EPiPHENy aims to be beginner friendly whilst providing an encouraging atmosphere to tackle what can be a dense (and occasionally unintelligible) subject.
