Congratulations to Professor of Personality and Social Psychology René Mõttus who was awarded the National Science Prize in the Field of Social Sciences by the Government of Estonia. The prize was given as part of the Estonian National Research Awards (Eesti teaduspreemiad), which are presented annually to Estonian researchers and research teams. Winners are decided by the Government of Estonia based on recommendations made by the Minister of Education and Research.Prof Mõttus was recognised for study he led called “More Accurate Answers to the Big Questions in Personality Psychology” in which the personality profiles for more than 250 occupations were compiled for the first time using data from a survey completed by nearly 70,000 Estonian gene donors and their relatives. The analysis results led to developing a practical and accessible tool that enables comparing one’s personality traits to those of individuals in various occupations. I can say that I am truly honoured by this, and really thankful to all my co-authors and the participants of the Estonian Biobank cohort who have made the research that was recognised possible.
