Search tool for Edinburgh University Library DiscoverEd Access and opening times The library is open to PPLS staff and students Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and to all University of Edinburgh readers when it is staffed. It is staffed: Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9am to 5pm (closed for lunch 1 to 2pm) Thursdays 9am to 12:30pm Different staffing times may apply during University vacations. Access outside staffing times is by swipe card, available only to PPLS staff and students (including undergraduates). Ask the librarian for further information. Enquiries or requests for books outside staffing times can be made by filling out the simple form below. Your enquiry will be answered promptly when the librarian is next working. Request a book or make an enquiry PPLS Librarian. Collections The library holds books covering all PPLS subject areas with more substantial collections of philosophy and psychology monographs. Philosophy books are held in Room G4. Psychology and language sciences books are in Rooms G1 and G2, with a small collection of parapsychology books in Room G5. Short loan books (one week loan) are available from the Library Office. A comprehensive collection of psychological tests is available to borrow for student research projects. Psychological test collection The library holds undergraduate psychology dissertations from 1947 to 2019. Borrowing books Books from the PPLS Library may be borrowed by all students and staff. Books held on open shelves are standard loan. Short loan (one week) books are available from the librarian's office. Please fill out a borrowing slip and leave it in the secure box provided in the reading room. Your loan will be entered on your library record later. Loan due dates are set to accommodate part-time staffing. Please return books to the 'Returned Books' box outside the library.
