Visiting taught students

How to apply to the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences (PPLS) as a visiting student

HTML

If you are currently registered on a taught postgraduate degree elsewhere, you are able to spend a semester of your studies at the University of Edinburgh on a Study Abroad Programme.

To be eligible to apply you must be registered as a full-time student on a degree programme elsewhere.

A semester in Edinburgh may count towards your final degree at your home university.

Courses

As a visiting postgraduate, you will be enrolled on 60 credits (30 ECTS credits) of courses from one specific degree programme. In most cases, you should decide on the degree programme you wish to study before you apply.

In most cases, you will be able to confirm your courses you will study before you arrive. If not, your Programme Director will advise you on choosing specific courses from the relevant degree programme.

Tuition fees

You will be studying for 60 credits - one third of a full-taught postgraduate degree. As such, the tuition fee will be one third of the tuition fee for the degree programme you are studying.

Tuition fees vary from programme to programme. There are also different fees for home and international students. Current tuition fees for each degree programme are listed in the postgraduate Degree Finder. The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) will confirm the tuition fee for your semester with you if they make you an offer.

If you are entering the University of Edinburgh on a direct exchange agreement, you will not be charged tuition fees.
